The measurement you see - such as 8" - is the entire length of the scissor, including the handle.
It depends on how often you use the scissors, what kind of material you’re cutting, and how well you take care of your scissors. When tested in the rigors of professional sewing studios, our scissors outperformed other brands in the same price tier.
Please note that all scissors will need to be sharpened at some point and that dullness is not considered a defect.
This is because we use put coating of oil on the blades to prevent any rust from developing during the shipping process. Please wipe off the oil before using the scissors. However, we do recommend that you apply a thin layer of oil - such as anti-rust, sewing machine oil, or any neutral oil - on the blades and button with a cloth when not in use.
It depends on the kind of scissor that you purchase. We have scissors available that have been manufactured with an anti-rust coating, such as our Midnight Edition line of fabric scissor, or are crafted from an anti-rust material, such as any of our stainless steel tools. Others will need to be coated with oil, such as a sewing machine oil, if they're being stored for a couple of months. Just like a knife, as long as you are keeping your scissors clean and dry, you shouldn't experience any issues with rusting.
Most of our scissors are able to be sharpened. There are exceptions, such as our One-piece Snips. For more info, please click here.
Due to the manufacturing process and the nature of our hand-finished scissors, some scissors may have superficial scratches that do not diminish the overall quality of the scissor, but may not be as aesthetically pleasing. Please note that softer metals such as carbon steel are more prone to scratches. This is what we consider normal wear during our manufacturing process.
All of our products and packaging are designed in Toronto, Canada, and are mindfully crafted in our family factories just outside of Hong Kong, in Shenzhen, China. You can learn more about us here.
If you have pre-ordered a product, your entire order will be shipped when the pre-ordered product is available.
Left-handed Shears
If you have been using right-handed scissors with your left-hand for the majority of your life, there may be a period of training your hand to properly use true left-handed scissors. The best way to power through this is to keep the shears as straight as possible when cutting, as many people new to a true left-handed pair tend to angle the shears when cutting (which can lead to folding the fabric, not cutting).
Seconds Sales
Our "seconds sale" product means that the item doesn't meet our aesthetic standard for regular retail sale. This is usually a scuff(s) or scratch(es) on the surface of the product. The quality of the tool is otherwise unaffected and works perfectly.
They are covered by our 10-year warranty. They are FINAL SALE, with no returns based on the aesthetic appearance.
