The measurement you see - such as 8" - is the entire length of the scissor, including the handle.
It depends on how often you use the scissors, what kind of material you’re cutting, and how well you take care of your scissors. When tested in the rigors of professional sewing studios, our scissors outperformed other brands in the same price tier.
Please note that all scissors will need to be sharpened at some point and that dullness is not considered a defect.
This is because we put a coating of oil on the blades to prevent any rust from developing during the shipping process. You can simply wipe it off before using the scissors. However, we do recommend that you apply a thin layer of oil - such as anti-rust, sewing machine oil, or any neutral oil - on the blades and button with a cloth when not in use.

This was the first item that made me fall in love with LDH. I remember receiving the package in a very neat box with dense foam that protected the item in transit. I am a handmade artist of hats and bags so I love using it every time I am doing a project. Last year in June I was doing an outdoor market, in which the tent was on grass and soil. When I was leaving I couldn’t find the thread snip. Since it had a bright red cap, it should be very obvious to locate. I remembered everything was already packed inside my car, but I just couldn’t leave without the beautiful and powerful thread snip. I asked several people around me if they had seen it and then I kneeled down on the ground and squatted to search for 15 minutes. When I finally saw the bright red cap with the thread snip, I was so relieved I get to go home with it !! Thank you for creating wonderful products.

I had a feeling I would like these when I ordered them, but they've turned into one of my most used and valued tools. I had another pair of somewhat clunky plastic snips that came as part of a gift set that I never use and I was worried these would fall into that category. Instead they now live in my daily use tool roll for hand sewing and I just ordered a pair of the one piece snips so I can have something to keep by my machine (these were sold out at the time of review ;p). Highly recommend!
